I haven't been blogging because A) I've been really busy lately with extra animal sitting for people (Callie the dog and Harry the cat last week; this week, Alley the cat), B) extra working (last week I filled in for Andrea's shifts so she could go on vacation), C) our cameras haven't been working, so I haven't been able to take any photos to share, and D) I had a super long migraine this weekend and, so, I just slept.

This morning I'm pouring a very large mug of coffee because I'm under the impression that it will help me perform better, since I didn't get much sleep and I have to go to work in a few minutes. I'm not sure that assumption is actually true, but I like the idea, so I'll try it. I've been drinking tea in the mornings because I realized that I really needed to get through the gazillion kinds of tea I have, but tea just won't cut it today.

We tried to stay up to see the shooting stars last night. Our side of the earth faced some ancient end of a comet (insert "belt" somewhere in that description because I know Snark mentioned that word in describing it to me, but I really can't pretend to know what I'm talking about.) So I fell asleep in my clothes eventually and then Snark did too. He set the alarm for 3am, but actually set the alarm for 3pm. I woke up around 3:30am and spent a while trying to wake Snark up who wasn't easily waking to my prompting. (I contemplated not telling him at all and just going back to sleep, but, well, I didn't--the once catholic girl inside got the better of me and I didn't want to feel guilty the next morning). Once Snark finally woke, though, he decided he was too tired to drive somewhere to check out awesome stars, so we tromped back over to our house. We had been at Chris's house--our next door neighbor behind Andy's house; we're cat sitting/house sitting for her these next two weeks.

Sometime in the wee hours of the morning, which means after 4am, but before 8am when I finally dragged myself out of bed, Diamond brought us a present of a little snake and dropped it on the bedroom floor. At least, that's what I think it was. It was still alive and he played with it, meowing happily. I tried to catch it, but by the time I got a flashlight to clearly see it and a bowl to cover it, the snake had wiggled away. It's got to still be in our house. Somewhere.

Last night, Snark and I enjoyed rocking in the hanging bench, watching the rain storm from Chris's porch, which extends around half of her house. The canal became really loud after the rain stopped and we could hear it all night. Inside Chris's house we could hear Diamond yowling to be let inside, his face peeking through a low window. He thinks he lives at Andy's house AND Chris's house. He comes in through the dog door and he terrorizes Alley Cat, believing he's the boss of her and of that house. Of course, he's a lover to Chris, and to us, and to Veggie dog, so it's hard to deny him entry, but we did. We shut the dog door, and listened to him crying through the window for most of the night. After we went home to Andy's and after the snake incident, Diamond proudly slept on my chest for a couple of hours and then down at my feet for the rest of the morning. That cat is endearing and troublesome all at once!

Goddamn! Just as I finished writing that, Diamond came in carrying a fat lizard, which I promptly caught inside a rug and tossed outside. What am I going to do with this cat?

Was it the Kuiper belt?? I've been trying to see the meteor showers and northern lights but no luck:( It's either cloudy or just can't see them. Plus, the mosquitos are so terrible I don't want to stay outside long. Hope your coffee helped! Talk to you guys soon.
