Chiricahua National Monument

photos from our hike yesterday at chiricahua, an hour and a half from where we live:

so it was my dad's birthday yesterday, but i kept telling snark that it felt like my birthday. it really did; it was exactly what i'd want to be doing on a special day like a birthday or a holiday. an ordinary day, turned spectacular and soothing just by getting up early and going on a new hike.
the hiking was mellow, the views beautiful, and there were shady spots along the hike from boulders and rock formations, making the hike bearable... even pleasant in the noontime sun. the white flowers lined the road on the drive there and back.
