With eight-plus hour work days, I am making it through my first week of AmeriCorps service. Thank you to my dear friends and family for your patience with me when I don't respond to emails and phone calls in a timely fashion. My phone is never on anymore and I am utterly exhausted.

The other recent change is my revisiting of raw foods full time for the month of October. Snark's been a great support to me with both these endeavors, while also encouraging me to stay active with yoga even with such long days. I am in good spirits from this support. One cool thing is that I've been waking up early the last couple of mornings feeling ready to get up--is this a benefit of eating raw? Can my energy level be affected so soon, occurring just one week into the process of eating healthier and abandoning my love affair with butter? I don't know. I'll think on it, and reflect later in the month.

Hey, I even feel positive right now about the weather changing today from dramatically hot to way-too-chilly. Bread baking is expected this coming, miserable-weathered Saturday, and that is a comforting thought.

Check out our infant winter wheat crop!
