The wind had been torrential today, keeping me inside, except in instances where I needed to run out and save the yard from unruly items blowing about, including the baby plants, and the garbage can, and blankets, and walking sticks, and plastic bags caught in trees. I feel like Dorothy just before her tornado incident. Being outside is an ordeal! The sound inside is, in itself, nerve-racking, the wind rattling the windows and roof of the house as if they might break or be torn away.

And, in fact, thinking of this reminds me of a word I learned today. I thought it meant stubborn, but I looked it up just to make sure. I found that it applies perfectly to today's weather conditions. The word is obstreperous. It comes from the Latin obstreperus "clamorous," related to obstrepere "to make a noise," and broken down further, comes from a combination of ob- + strepere "to rattle." I love this stuff! It is an adjective meaning: 1. Resisting control or restraint in a difficult manner; unruly. 2. Noisy, clamorous,or boisterous.

Yummmmm! I love looking things up in the dictionary and finding interesting answers!

Good word! How long is it going to be windy? I hope you get some peace soon!

I can barely say the word

Ahhh, the wind stopped and it is peaceful again. However, in April it usually stays windy the whole month.

I couldn't say the word at first, either, but I liked it so much it soon started rolling off the tongue!
