This morning it's raining. It's been raining through the night and the sound and smell and coolness of the rain has been a part of my consciousness since early this morning. Waking to it, looking out into the misty green hills (in a warm bed with two cats and a dog), is delicious.

I get to wear overalls because it is not HOT! Hooray for autumn.

Snark has left during a lull to walk the pup. Speaking of walks in the rain, on Sunday we went camping at Rucker Canyon. We went on a 4 or 5 mile hike when we arrived, then set up camp. The next morning we went on the same 8 mile hike that we did right before we moved to Bisbee. We had planned to continue further to the following peak(s), but just as we reached the top, the sky turned ominous and a few minutes later it began to rain. We decided being at the top of a mountain is not the best idea during a thunder storm. We also realized that if the rain lasted our car would probably not be able to make it back over the washes, and we didn't want to get stuck. With a since of urgency, we turned around and jogged down the fifty of so switch backs, and once on the forest floor, we crossed the stream fifteen or so times before we made it back to camp, soaked (but not struck by lightening). It took us half the time to get down that it did to go up. Oh yeah, and we forgot to put the rain fly on our tent when we left for the hike that morning, so all the blankets and things in the tent were soaked as well. Overall, is was a typical SnarkySass adventure, and I had a great time! (Except for the part when Veggie Dog got stung by a bee in our tent when she was trying to go to sleep; that was just sad.)
