Today my dad and I went through stuff to donate and throw away and keep. We worked the whole day, though I took a couple of breaks. It's pretty intense going through box after box of completely random stuff for 6 or 7 hours. We cleared out some decidedly visible space in the garage, which is great! But soon it will be filled with more boxes as we pull his stuff from rooms that he's filled throughout the house. Because, you know, we cleared that space last summer and then it just got filled up again as we/he went through more things. It's progress, but sometimes it doesn't feel tangible since the empty spots in the garage keep refilling to accomodate the sorting process.
Other details about the festival last weekend:
*I ate two and a half snowcones on Sunday.
*Cali gave me a clay-mud spa treatment in the river. When the clay dried on my arms and back, she washed it off with the pebbles at the bottom of the river.
*Cali enjoyed spying on Ali and JT as they walked around the festival holding hands and looking like a little more than friends.
*Before Ani came on Sunday night and for the first few songs she sang, I rubbed Cali's back like I used to before she took her naps when she was 2 years old. (She and her mama left before Ani finished because it was really late and Cali was obviously sleepy.)
*Patma and I joined in singing and dancing on Sunday morning to the Love Choir's assortment of music under the Arlo tent, traditional songs like "I'll Fy Away" and "Keep on the Sunny Side" as well as songs from the 60s and 70s (The Beatles, Three Dog Night, etc.) I really loved it! It wasn't officially "church" (which is probably good for my sake, since I probably wouldn't have been very receptive), but it was the best kind of nonofficial gospel sort-of-church I've been to. I felt like they were doing a good job of spreading vibes of love, patience, compassion, and peace.
Patma and I are going to play our first game now (and we've been together for a week already!). (Goldfish doesn't really count, I don't think, though, we did play that with Cali on Saturday while we waited for Po' Girl to come on stage.)
