Well, we're officially out of the old house. And the last day didn't go as happily as we thought it might. Actually, the great relationship Snark and the owner had dissolved in the last 24 hours of interacting. She was accusatory and implied that we wouldn't have finished cleaning the house if she had waited in coming another day or so like she originally had told us she would. (Even though we were pretty close to finishing and would have been done by Sunday night if she hadn't shown up.) It was very unusual for us to experience her disrespect, since we are pretty damn good tenants. Luckily, Doris (the realtor) was there to add some calm and wisdom to the outrageous charade. And, thankfully (for me), Snark dealt with the bulk of it and I mostly stayed hidden inside Andy's house working on tasks that allowed me to not interact with grumpy-pants-owner and, therefore, keep from crying.
After the owner left to go back to Phoenix yesterday, late afternoon, Snark and I had a couple of drinks and relaxed a bit from the emotional events of the last day and a half (for that matter, from the last two weeks). Even though things ended out crappier than we had hoped, it was nice to just have it over with and be able to sit down for two hours and watch a movie. (We watched I Am Sam.)
