Question: So why is the squash plant (zucchini, I think) all splotchy? (See last photo on previous blog post as well.) Anyone know why it would lose it's leaf pigment in places? It's not yellow; it just looks like some of the green has been rubbed off around the leaves. Otherwise, the plant seems very healthy. What might it be? I've read about a fine white powdery-type of spot that can infect summer squash that may be mildew, a fungal infection. But this doesn't (so far) seem like a white powder. It seems more like a lack of color in spots. Please help, anyone who might know.

It whitish color looks shiney from the photos and also like it's following the veins in the plants. I don't know if that can be any clues to solving the mystery. Good luck!
I think it's shiny from the camera flash. It's definitely more accentuated in the photo than when I just examine it in person. When I look at the missing pigment spots, it actually reminds me of velvet that has been worn down, threadbare, in spots, losing its color and plush fuzziness.
