Friday night I got a migraine and it carried over into Saturday. Snark and I planned to help with registration for the 19th annual stair climb race, but I couldn't see out of the left side of my face, so we didn't end up volunteering. And after more than three years without taking any medicine, even a simple Tylenol, I finally popped two Advil and an Excedrin to help me get through the morning. I really wanted to see the race. We rode our bikes downtown, five minutes before the race began and got to see the runners start. Even though I felt shitty, I was glad I did get to experience it.
After the race, we walked around downtown, visited our neighbor Andy who had her knitting booth set up in the alley, ate some lunch at the savory spot, and checked out the art and craft booths set out near the race headquarters. Then we walked home.
I slept for the next few hours with a damp cloth over my eyes and a frozen bag of edamame on my head. It helped! We had tickets for the "Bisbee Flavor" silent auction fundraiser at the Central School Project from 5 to 7pm. I rallied, and we walked downtown, getting there late, but enjoying ourselves for the hour or so while we were there. We chatted with neighbors and acquaintances and met some new people. We bid on a handful of items and a few of those bids won.
Later we walked to Santiago's. Snark's co-workers wished me a happy birthday and the cooks sung to me (from Snark I hear this is a rare occurrence, so I feel honored!). They gave me a birthday slice of dulce de leche cheescake, which we strapped to the back of my bike (our bikes left downtown from earlier in the day) and we biked home.
It was a great day, even if I felt really crappy for more than half of it!
(Snark made me a cool Bday card! See?!)
