we started out on the dirt path toward the wash and about a minute or so in, we saw our first rattle snake of the summer: medium-sized and yellow hues, diamonds across its back, sunning itself on the bike path. it slowly skimmed into the grass after we passed. a few minutes later, snark warned me to be careful of the sticks with thorns, and no sooner than he warned me, he got a flat tire, putting an end to our early morning, beat-the-heat bike ride. fabulous plans thwarted by nature!
later in the day, we played games after being kicked out of our garden by the overwhelming population of mosquitoes. we played boggle, sequence, and--can you believe it?!--that night we played scrabble! snark beat my ass at scrabble: 290 to 271! it's our first time playing scrabble together, just the two of us. snark claims to not be so fond of the game because it makes his brain hurt, but he was winning almost the entire time we played, and most importantly, pulled ahead in the last few plays.
documentation of the incredible event that occurred:
we also walked downtown yesterday. our idea was to finally take the bisbee bus, but by the time we got to the bus stop, we decided it was silly to take the bus for just one or two stops, so we just continued to walk. we experienced our first monsoon rain fall on the way. it was actually fairly light while we walked and didn't last for too long, but it started back up that night and was pretty loud and heavy for a while.
here's a photo of one of our cucumbers that has wedged itself into a tricky predicament. i'm not sure how we're going to get it out.
this morning, snark made us fabulous four cheese omelets with red onion and cups of coffee for breakfast. just as good as the breakfast club . . . and maybe even better. AND he did the dishes from last night and then again after breakfast, while i sat at the table and typed. thank you, snark!
i think we're going to go camping for a couple of nights. it's suppose to get hotter than usual in bisbee, so we're going to head to the mountains, maybe in a few hours.
