antique roadshow

On Saturday, Snark, his dad, and i went to antique roadshow in denver. we had a lot of fun, though, by the end of our time there snark was pretty tired of answering the same questions over and over again about the coffin he brought: "I'm just dying to know! What's the story? Is there anyone in there?"

What he learned is that the coffin was used primarily as a show coffin--the fancy coffin where they would put a dead person for the wake and then after would take them out and bury the person in a more simple, less expensive box. This coffin is about 100 years old and made of mahogany. The major part of the lid is made of plum pudding mahogany, which is special, though i can't remember why. The coffin is hand carved and came over from Europe at some point. It was estimated to be worth $1500-$2500. Pretty cool! Though who knows if he'll be able to find someone who wants to buy it for that much.
