there was a fire this afternoon in the bisbee hills, about a mile and a half from our house. andy and i walked up tombstone canyon to west blvd to check on her friends' houses (the friends were all out of town). we stopped at the fork to W. Highland Park Rd. and N. Old Divide Rd. and watched the firefighters climb the hills while lots of planes flew low to the hillside, dumping fire retardant (or some sort of chemical substances). the hills on the opposite facing side getting it much worse than on our side. luckily the wind wasn't blowing the fire toward the houses on the side we were watching from and obviously all the residents were thankful for that. one woman, who was standing nervously outside her house watching the flames eat up the hillside, was praying over and over for the wind to not shift its direction. as we walked by, she included a blessing for the people who experienced much worse in the CA fires last year. as andy pointed out, a hundred years ago in bisbee, all of us who had come out of our homes and businesses would have been helping the effort to put out the fire, instead of merely standing around watching and worrying. Most likely the town would have been destroyed like it was in 1908.

This is crazy. I hope everyone is alright.
yep! it sounded like everyone was alright and no houses were destroyed. there was a very quick response for dealing with the fire, due to past fires that burned for days.
Scary, though. I'm glad everything turned out okay.
