some more of the ordinary

yesterday we went to sierra vista for garage sales, soil and mulch for the garden, and other random tasks. not much luck with the furniture sales once again, but snark scored some stuff today from a multi weekend moving sale.

while snark was busy this morning picking through scraps of wood, paint stuff, dishes, pots for plants, insulation, and other useful work materials, i finished a book i've been reading called The Bookseller of Kabul. i definitely recommend reading it; it's a fast read, but full of information about the history and culture of Afghanistan, which is enlightening and, i think, important to learn about. the author (who is Norwegian) was invited to live with an Afghan family; the spring following 9/11, she stayed with the family for three months. the story is of the various family members' daily routines; the multiple hierarchies of family and public life that they exist in; their expectations, desires, and frustrations about living in Afghanistan and Pakistan throughout the various power struggles/reigns (King Zahir Shah, President Daoud, the Soviet Union and communism, the Mujahedeen, the Taliban, the United States...).

most of my day, though, has been spent washing, washing, and washing more dishes, jars, containers, pots and pans, utensils collected in the last couple of days. i now have muffin tins--hooray!

also, i forgot to mention, i have an interview on friday morning for a volunteer position at the women's shelter, Renaissance House, which is located in old Bisbee.

anyway, here are some photos from the last couple of days:
